Blasting in the warehouse

June 11th, 2010

Monday Sullen art contributor and tattoo extraordinaire Big Gus came down to do some fine art graffiti on one of our walls. Big Gus did some stuff in the past in the warehouse and when asked if he could come do more there was no turning that down. The wall is at the foot of the stairs before you go up to the art and Sullen tv section ( or better known as ” Corpo ” ) of the company so all who is of importance gets a taste of what Sullen is all about when coming the stairs. Check out the photos below, enjoy and Thanks Big Gus.

What Sullen did…

June 3rd, 2010

Hey Sullen fans hope everyone had a safe and fun filled couple days off from the real world and lived it up. After getting some emails of what went down, it seems as if everyone from Sullen had a blast. Memorial weekend is like the beginning of summer, the kickoff to all the parties and BBQ’s. I sent out an email blast to all the family members getting the scoop of there weekend and immediately got responses back. Below is a list of what they did so enjoy and feel free to leave a comment on what you did as well, thanks for the support.

Jeremy Hanna (owner)-Lakers Rule, UFC blew, BBQ Saturday with Family, BBQ Sunday with family, BBQ Monday with Family. A great weekend with my Lakers, Friends and Family!

Tim Hering (sales)- I spent the holiday weekend at Lake Havasu drinking it up in the coves on the boat and enjoying the sun. I also got to watch the UFC fight and the Laker WIN on Saturday with friends, family and a nice cold beer!

CJ (warehouse)-Memorial day me my little girl dylan and gf devan went with the rest of my fam went with our church to the orange park to bbq and play some baseball!! Had an awesome day

Jon Cantrell (team manager)- Went to my cousins wedding on Saturday and missed the Lakers win but thankfully I had up to date scoring on the trusty Blackberry, then went to Catalina for the rest of the weekend and got into some trouble there, too much fun!!

Jesse Jolson (fmx)- Ya i pretty much did nuthing but ride and work on my course. Moved a few ramps around and sum dirt jumps. Did a little foam pit sesh and watched my buddy andy morgan stick like 15 flips to dirt. Just another typical day in the office… lol No partying for me

Destin Cantrell (fmx)- Went to my cousins wedding, had a blast seeing my family, drove my rc car, went mountain biking and BBQ’d it up, good stuff.

Jeff Griffin (fmx)- This weekend was a pretty fun packed Holiday weekend. Friday morning it started off by doing an early morning riding session, in the hills of my hometown, Bakersfield. After a good day of riding, I had some friends come over and we celebrated the start of the weekend. Saturday I went to a friends birthday party where he had a DJ, foam pit, with BMX and 50 riding, and a nice big projector screen where we watched the fights. which was a little dissapointing since the main event fight was by far not interesting. Lots of hype leading up to it, but not a good finish in my opinion. Sunday started off a little slow because of the festivities that occured the night before, but still got to put in some riding about noon. Sunday afternoon I headed up to a buddies house that lives by a lake, and we took out his ski boat. After getting wrecked from high speed tandom tubing and wakeboarding, we chilled out and did some BBQing to finish the night off. All in all, it was a pretty good weekend. God Bless the troops!

Nick Dunne (fmx)- Laid on my belly with my broken ass…. Sunday went to the lake and fished… Then fell a sleep and dreamed about riding.. Crappy weekend.

Darrell Weaver (skate)-Saturday i had a b-day party and had all the skate squad homies over and got wasted, threw up a couple times ya know the norm lol. Sunday we went on a safe spot skate spot tour for PharmacyBoardshop.com Launch and got alot of footage. Monday for memorial day we went to Venice beach skate park which sucked ass, but we still had a good time

Justin Montgomery (wake)- Went to San Diego Hard Rock and saw Deadmau5 vip status then went to the wavehouse on Monday and rode the wave machine, best weekend in a long time.

Joey Cordova (bmx)- On saturday I stayed home all day and had a yard sale and hung out with friends. Sunday I went to the compound and rode and filmed for my new edit that should be done next week. And monday I filmed at my friend Mike Lakin’s house and then finished out the day with a session at the compound.

Matt Cordova (bmx)- For Memorial weekend i did pretty much the same thing i do every weekend which is ride my bike. I also filmed with Dylan Pfohl from Colorado for an up an coming web edit. On saturday I chilled at my house in Wrightwood and had yard sale/bbq/ramp sesh. It was a good holiday weekend.

Larry Edgar (bmx)- I just went to the beach with the gf and tanned, I couldn’t ride cus i took a pretty hard fall in palm springs haha!!

TJ Ellis (bmx)- Yo what up so last week on thurs i went to austin texas to ride in a jam at my friend jesse fortneys bar called weirdos and fellow rider lucas porizo had built a set of trails in the back next to the volleyball courts yeah girls were playing lol. On friday night went out to 6th street in downtown check out some clubs, bars etc. saturday rode the jam i ended up taking the best trick portion with a frontie on the second set. To cap off the weekend we headed to the lake for memorial day and things were getting loose as soon as we tied up to the party boats and docked mad people were crusing back and forth having a good time and it was out of hand so many people were out there so you know things got out of hand but at the end of the night it was a good time. I ended up staying till wed to ride some trails and just hang out and chill.

The place to be…

May 27th, 2010

The place to be this weekend for the holiday has got to be Vegas. Why, well it simply goes off during this crazy weekend, the pools are all open and the clubs are hoppin. Also it’s UFC 114 with Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. To go along with the fight is the UFC fan expo starting Friday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Our friends over at Spar Customs.com will be holding a viewing party for the fight sponsored by Sullen at Diablos Lounge so if you don’t have a place to watch it definitely hit that place up, you will not regret it, well unless you are lucky enough to go to the fight then your dialed. So head out to Sin City this weekend and join all the festivities, have a safe weekend everyone

The Kloser drink release party.

May 24th, 2010

Last Wednesday Vitamin Water rented out the top floor of ESPN Zone next to the Staples Center to promote and release Kobe Bryants new flavor called the ” Kloser ” during there second game of the Western Conference Finals. The Kloser speaks for itself, Kobe Bryant is the best in the business and what better name to have for his new drink. Sullen FMX rider Destin Cantrell and his lady were on hand VIP hanging out with all the celebs and Hall of Fame NBA players. After talking to Destin he described the night as ” Awesome!! ” , ” it’s cool that one of my sponsors thinks of me when big stuff comes up like this, Travis and Vitamin Water have been doing a lot for me lately and I couldn’t be more stoked ” Destin said. I was hoping to get some good solid pics from the night but Destins camera died but the trusty iPhone took a shot of them with Hall of Famer Michael Cooper, enjoy!!

Photo of the Day…

May 24th, 2010

A couple weekends ago The Compound held its first annual Stephen Murray ” The Trails is Shoutin ” contest and when I got the call to cruise down I was sure not to miss this one. All of the Sullen team was there and the event went off. All the guys were throwing down huge tricks to help raise money for there fallen friend so the stakes were high. Last week I got an email with a bunch of pics taken by Anna who took some great shots. So good that one of them stuck out to me and everyone else of our boy Joey Cordova doing a huge superman flip so I immediately got a hold of the pic and thought it deserved to be ” Photo of the Day “. Thanks Anna for the photo, awesome work and great job Joey.

Front Flippin Fitzpatrick!!

May 19th, 2010

As in years past, the X Games chatter, hype and gossip are starting to pick up and the Metal Mulisha’s and Sullen for life family member Jimmy Fitzpatrick is the talk of the town. For the past year or so, Fitz has been claiming he has the double backflip, but it seems he’s had a change of heart and is now eyeing an elusive 75-foot front flip. In November, Paris Rosen was the first to land the front flip on a scale of this magnitude, but he wasn’t quite able to stomp it at X Games 15. So, as it currently stands, the front flip has never been landed in any X Games Moto X Best Trick contest. Check out the video here and see for yourself on the history about to go down this summer.

This weekends Wake contest…

May 17th, 2010

Sullen wakeboarders were in full swing this weekend for the first stop of the Canyon Lake wakeboard club, I was on hand watching and the heat was turned up knowing there team manager was there. Nik Hinton the newest addition to the team came out swinging proving to everyone he is the future of the sport earning him a solid first place. Throwing huge tricks and awwing the crowd it was a landslide where he stood, and just like last year he stood out in front of everyone. The veteran Justin Montgomery, also on the board for the club threw down a solid run as well earning him a nice second place finish. Both riders were laced up in Sullen and couldn’t stop talking about how comfy the board shorts were, which is awesome to hear since there are a crap load of boardshort companies out there that have been in the game for a while. Sullen would like to thank the guys for the support and great job this weekend. The next Canyon Lake contest is June 17th so try and cruise out if possible, it’s super fun.

Metzger injured!!!

May 15th, 2010

Yesterday I got a call from Taylor Sterner letting me know the Godfather of freestyle Mike Metzger took a bad spill out at Reche Canyon. He had been riding solid all day and decided to flip the 3rd gear step up dirt jump and I guess came up a little short under rotating and breaking his femur. I guess from what I hear is he had done it a couple times before leaving this one to bite him. He had just taken out his rod in that femur to which really sucks, man I hate when anyone gets hurt but especially a close friend to me and to Sullen. Get better bud, hope you heal up fast. Below is the pic before his crash so you get an idea of how gnarly the jump is.
